New Tesla Model 3 Performance Announced
Apr 24, 2024,03:56 AM
Tesla's new Model 3 Performance model has just been announced. This replaces the previous Performance model which is quite an impressive car!
Quick Facts:
510 horsepower
296 miles of range (US EPA Testing Standard). This is a 45 mile penalty compared to the normal Long Range AWD version.
0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds
Upgraded brakes.
Adaptive suspension (not air suspension, adaptive valving).
20 inch staggered wheels and tires. Wheels are a unique design to this model. Wheels are forged! Not cast!
Special Front Bumper with air curtains and diffuser - specific to the Performance model.
Special front seats with sporty bolstering!
"Insane" level performance.
Not a "Ludicrous" level performance, that level is reserved for 3-motor models with carbon sleeve rotors (like the Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid)
I was told that there would be a 19" wheel option as well, but doesn't seem to be the case.
Price; $53,000 USD in USA. Before destination, taxes, registration, and tax credit.
Looks very impressive to me with the on paper stats! I haven't driven this latest Performance version, but I will say The Tesla Model 3 does handle very well. It's very heavy, but the mass is low. The brakes are not very good, the ones on the Performance model are significantly better than the non-performance models though. It's not the most emotional car to drive, but it's a fantastic cars if you can tune out the road noise, the paint quality isn't very good, and the build quality is below average. It's also very convenient to plug the car into the electrical mains at home and not have to go to the gas station. The technology and user interface is pretty darn good (more buttons and stalks would be nice), almost like an iPhone that's a car.
Full disclosure, I am a Tesla stockholder.
Any thoughts? I think it's a cool car. I can't wait to try one out. Although my current car hasn't missed a beat - so I don't feel a need to replace it.
